SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is used to validate if an e-mail message is sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the forging of email addresses generated with the domain. In simple words: enabling this function for a domain name creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests whether it comes from an official server. When it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, however when it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address to make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This technique is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain name hosted in a website hosting account on our cloud platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our modern Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to select one of your domain names from a drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words when our servers manage the emails for it, not a third-party supplier. This option will provide you with the top degree of safety, but it's not applicable if only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are managed in another place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.
